End of Semester Summary

This semester was far from the norm which made it very unique. I liked this semester because it gave me a lot of time to study more of the material due to the fact that everything was online. Normally, I used to have to travel nearly two hours to reach Hunter. The online classes were a huge advantage for me so I enjoyed it.
Working on the projects in quarantine was difficult because it limited how much space I was able to access and I was limited to only working with my little sister. I focused both projects two and three on her.
Our lab instructor(Jeremy) was an amazing teacher and I loved his instruction. He is honestly one of the kindest/engaging teachers I have come across.
The general professor was a great teacher and I loved the way he broke different concepts down. He is an amazing teacher.
Overall, the class was enjoyable even though the majority of it was at home. I would like to thank all the teachers for readjusting during this time, without them none of the instruction would be possible.

Project 3 Story Board

With these pictures, I will be making a story on how a girl is trying to find success in her room when everything seems to be against her, especially in the current pandemic we are going through. She wants to be a successful makeup artist however her environment is causing many problems. This environment mainly consisting of her family, her own self-doubt, and the current pandemic. This story will mainly unfold in her room because she is constantly in it dwelling with her own inner thoughts and the thoughts of everyone else. If she will overcome this is yet to be seen.

Project 2 Description and Questions

I will be interviewing my little sister on how she felt after her best friend moved away. The story I will be telling is how she was impacted after she went through her first real loss of a friendship. The beginning of this story will illustrate just how close her friend Ashley and she were. The middle will consist of how my sister was impacted after she lost Ashley. The end will portray how she moved on and the tools she used to do so. The larger themes this story addresses are the importance of our emotions, how relationships are formed, and how to move on from emotional distress.

Questions I plan on asking:

1. Why was Ashley so important to you?
2. What are some fond memories you remember of her?
3. If you could hold on to one memory with her for the rest of your life, which would it be?
4. Do you have any regrets about the way you treated her?
5. Is there something you wish you had the chance to tell her face to face?
6. Was there a time you did not like her? If so, why?
7. How did you two become so close?
8. Do you think you can ever truly move past losing her?
9. How were you impacted after she left?
10. What was the last thing you said to her?

Description of my 10 shots

My partner have agreed on the ten shots we will be using for our project. Our first wide-angle shot will be of a particular hallway and the door interior. The first medium shot will be from the halfway point of the hall to the end of the hall. The close ups will be inside the Islamic club, inside the Islamic club's room, people inside the room, and lastly we will have a close up of another club sign. The second medium angle shot will be the inside of another room. The second wide-angle shot will be of everyone in that particular room. Our last close up will be the outside of the door. The last wide-angle shot will be of the hallway from the opposite direction from the first shot.

Define a Space: Location

My partner Amy and I chose to film on the 4th floor of the Thomas Hunter Building. The reason we decided to film here is that this place represents multiple cultures/religions. There are many props/signs here that represent various religions across the world. This is a free space for people of various cultures/religions to come and socialize with people who are just like them. It provides a safe space for these people. This space was designed to make people feel comfortable by finding people that share common interests with them. It also provides an area where people of various religions can perform their acts of worship. This is a special place where students exercise a very important aspect of their life, their religion and while doing so they get to meet people who are just like them.

This floor includes the Muslim Student Association, the Sikh club, the Jewish club, etc. All the rooms are relatively close to each other which could represent unity amongst all people of various religions. My partner and I hope to illustrate through our pictures how the people of this floor interact with each other and also illustrate how this floor is essential to people's belief systems. We hope to convey a feeling of unity and peace amongst the various cultures/religions since all the rooms are relatively close to each other. It is typically a peaceful place with limited noise which could represent tranquility. We are excited to illustrate how essential this one floor is to many people of Hunter College. One challenge we are anticipating is being able to fit all the cultures/religions in one shoot.

Artist Statement

Ever since I was an infant I always had a fascination with creativity in all forms. This fascination has carried on with me to my college years where I am trying to study emerging media to learn how computers can be used as a medium for creativity. A computer is a great way to explore the number of ways you can create whatever your mind imagines. There are various programs on the computer that can illustrate an infinite amount of art. Art comes in many forms and technology helps us access some of these forms.

Art has always been an escape for me. It has always provided an alternate dimension for me to escape to and live an alternate reality, my alternate reality. Whether I am drawing or coding on a computer, it is me who is in control of what happens. I feel free and unrestricted because there are no rules in my dimension. I have always dreamed to have independence and art has always been a medium for me to live that dream even if that may not be the case currently.

All through my life, I have been restricted by various factors that have limited my ability to have independence and sadly this is the case for my family. They are my ultimate motivation in life because we may not have much, but we have each other. They push me to be the best me and I truly appreciate that. My dream is to be successful through my passions to put myself and them in a better financial situation. Independence has always been my goal and I will not stop until I achieve it for myself and for my family.
